Interview with Prabhjyot Singh Character From Udta Punjab as Bali

We all know that Udta Punjab is One of the most talked film of Bollywod from last 1 Month. Udta Punjab is a 2016 Indian crime drama film co-written and directed by Abhishek Chaubey. It is based on drug abuse in the Indian state of Punjab. Produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under their banner Balaji Motion Pictures, in association with Phantom Films, it features Shahid Kapoor,Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles. On 4 June 2016, the Central Board of Film Certification sought a stay on the film's release citing that the themes dealt with in the film were too mature for the general audience. As a result, the producers were directed to make a total of 89 cuts in the film. However, on 13 June 2016, the Bombay High Court struck down the stay and gave permission for the film's national release, albeit with a single cut in the screenplay.The film was released worldwide on 17 June 2016.

After alot of controveries the film has released worldwide and has done a good business on its first day. Many Critics has rated the film as amazing and has given 4.5/5 Rating.

So After the film release Our Team interviewed one of the main character Prabhjyot Singh of the film. He is depicted as Brother of Diljit Dosanjh who is cop, named Bali. In the film he though did not got much screen space, he is very much associated with the plot of the story. In the film he gets addicted to drugs very badly. His family and brother gets very sad about this. Diljit (Sartaj In The Film) takes him to the doctor (Kareena Kapoor) for treatment where he is kept for many days. He tries many times to run away but he could not, In the end he tries to run by injuring the guards in the way the doctor (Kareena) comes and tries to stop him but does not and kills Kareena. - So Whats's Your Age?

-Are You Studing, In Which Class You are?

I'm preparing for my 12th boards.

-From where you are?

I'm born and brought up in Mumbai.

-How did you get your first film?

I had a play in chembur fine arts studio, where someone from the casting team saw my performance and asked me to give an audition. I got shortlisted and I was called quite a few times and they hadn't actually discussed what was the role, what role was it, which movie, was it a major role or just a side artist. After a few meets, i was selected and the dates and everything were then discussed. Unfortunately I had to turn down the offer because the dates of the shoot clashed with my board exams date. I refused the offer because my parents were not happy with my decision of skipping my boards and shooting. Then the casting director Sr. Honey Trehan called us up and asked us to meet him and the director Sr. Abhishek Chaubey and then make a final decision. I and my father went for the meeting. Honey sir and Abhishek sir discussed the complete story with us and it was then when we realised the importance of my role. Balli wasn't just a normal side role. He represents the youth of Punjab and what the youth of punjab is doing right now. After having a talk with Abhishek sir and Honey sir we finally decided to go on with the movie. Probably that was one of the best decisions of my life.

-How you became an actor, it was your dream or aim from childhood or you thought about it few years back?

I definitely dreamt of becoming an actor while I was small but because I belong to a middle class family, the dream of becoming an actor was not really easy to fulfill. I never did show much interest in this because it was something that I thought, I will never be able to fulfill. Udta Punjab was a dream come true.

-How was your experience in working Udta Punjab that to working with such a big stars Like Shahid Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh, Alia Bhatt & Kareena Kapoor.

It was mesmerising. It was magical. It was something I just can't describe in words. Working with such big stars, who are so talented, so good, yet so down to earth. Working with them felt like I was living a dream.

-Do you want to do more movies in your future?

Definitely! Who would say no to live a dream again? Would you?

-What do you think that Film like Udta Punjab should be made more or not and tell us something about the controversy of the film.

Films like Udta Punjab potray realty, what the youth is going through, what the politicians are up to l, what is the situation of the familes. Nobody here cares what the familes of those addicts are going through. May be films like Udta Punjab can help those people who are suffering there. And talking about the controversy, there shouldn't be any controversy. If it's because of the cuss words, I believe one doesn't expect people living in rural areas talking in polished language. And CBFC asking the makers to remove any relation to Punjab, it doesn't make sense at all. If the movie is made to highlight the issues in Punjab, I believe creativity should not get hampered due to political pressure.

-What preparations were done by you for this role?

After getting the script I really wanted go get into the skin of a drug addict as I was completely blank about it. I watched videos about how drugs are taken, and how people do stuff when high. I started observing drug addicts closely, also met some who have been to rehabs. This gave me a insight of a drug addicts life and helped me perform better. Also a special thanks to the udta punjab team for all their support and valuable inputs to make prabhjyot, what he is known today balli.
